FRANK Water CIC

Profile

There are 664 million people in the world without safe water and 2.4 billion without a toilet. At FRANK Water, our mission is to alleviate global water poverty, enhance health and wellbeing and protect the natural environment by improving the way that people understand and use water to encourage global water security. This mission informs our work overseas and in the UK. In India and Nepal, we help secure long-term access to safe water for people that are hardest to reach, may have been left behind by progress or marginalised from society by their caste. We support communities, districts and local governments to map out and manage their water resources. We support families to build toilets, provide them with an understanding of good hygiene and help them leverage funds from the government to fulfil other areas of development. Since 2005, FRANK Water has provided safe water, sanitation and hygiene training (WASH) to more than 403,000 people in 520 villages across India and Nepal. In the UK, we work to change public behaviour away from practices, processes and products that negatively impact global water resources. We encourage sustainable consumption of drinking water via our bottled spring water in glass, our range of refillable cups, bottles and flasks and our Refill schemes for events, restaurants and other public spaces. During summer 2019, we took our festival refill service to 15 UK music festivals where 182 volunteers served a whopping 169,152 refills of filtered, chilled water, potentially saving the same number of single-use plastic bottles. FRANK Water’s work contributes towards Sustainable Development Goal 6 - providing access to safe water and sanitation for all by 2030.
