The Ubele Initiative

The Ubele Initiative

Profile

The Ubele Initiative (Ubele) derives its name from the Swahili word meaning ‘The Future’. Ubele is an African Diaspora led intergenerational social enterprise founded in 2014, with the purpose of helping to build more sustainable communities across the UK. We work not only with African Diaspora communities but also with the wider culturally diverse community-based organisations and groups. Our programmes have had a wide reach and served a range of community development needs from community enterprise, leadership and health & wellbeing. They have also facilitated intergenerational and learning opportunities, incubating projects enabling others to thrive. It’s clear that these programmes have made major strides in shaping partnerships, policy and practice as well as building knowledge and capacity within communities.
