IMARA CIO

Profile

Our creative arts therapists and CHISVA’s (Children and Young Persons Independent Sexual Violence Advisers) support victim/survivors from disclosure to conclusion of the Criminal Justice Process and beyond. We specialise in familial child sexual abuse, providing a flexible, individualised service to each family. Practitioners are trauma informed way; trained in understanding trauma and the dynamics of child sexual abuse. We support client’s voices to be heard e.g. their right to receive pre-trial therapy, safe housing, special measures. We promote wider system level change through training and consultation to professionals increasing understanding of the effects of trauma and empowering them to make appropriate adjustments. We build knowledge and resilience with clients through psycho-education, helping them to understand natural responses to trauma and reducing the stigma of their survival strategies e.g. self-harm and to increase understanding of the dynamics of CSA to build knowledge to protect future children and promote safe, respectful relationships.
