Food in Community CIC

Food in Community collect and redistribute edible, sustainably produced surplus food that would otherwise be discarded from farms and food businesses in Devon, UK. We deliver over 150,000 meals worth of produce per year to charities, homeless shelters, food banks, schools, children’s centres and community groups. Surplus is also used by our volunteers to make a nutritious menu for our ‘Pay What You Feel’ lunch cafés and at community events, which build community and are enjoyed by diners of all ages, over half of whom self-report recently experiencing loneliness or food poverty. We run regular cooking courses for targeted groups and holiday cooking clubs for families with children in receipt of free school meals over the school holidays. We also sell products made from surplus produce to wholesale and retail customers. We also offer consultancy services regarding all of the above for interested groups wanting to run similar activities in their area.
