Little Living Room is a social enterprise built on the collaboration of a collective of creatives from a range of backgrounds committed to building confidence through creative practice. We platform work by creatives who may not have been published before with emphasis on supporting the underprivileged and underrepresented. Our mission is to foster diversity and inclusion by making the arts more accessible. Thanks to the funds raised on kickstarter by our community we have launched our a sustainable arts magazine which is committed to providing free issues to at-risk and underserved communities. We aim to diversify through setting up projects that create connection between nationalities, genders, social class and age. Our goals include embracing the development of soft skills, resilience, connection, confidence, employability and life-long learning through workshops and skill sharing for employability. Together with graphic designer, creative contributions from the public, and crowd-funded by our community, we have printed our first magazine; a platform where collaborative writing, photography, illustration and design projects give voice to the underrepresented and establish connections that would not be possible in this increasingly polarised world. We are focusing on motivating confidence and giving an opportunity to those who may not have been heard before. We are interested in supporting mental health, connection, both national and international topics of social equity. Our condition is that individuals or communities who submit are based in Scotland and are willing to share their work and voice. With the precariousness of the pandemic and looming disconnection of Brexit, and general disconnect suffered between classes we believe that support for creatives is vital. We aim to remedy lost connection, and establish new bridges between those whose voices have become, or are at risk of becoming, silenced.
