Pavilion Hive

Profile

Pavilion Hive (pH) is a collective of creative practitioners responsible for supporting the local arts and culture ecology by humanising the landscape in the North of RBKC through an annual temporary public arts structure and surrounding activities - the Portobello Pavilion (PP). The steering group of 14 is made up of unique interdisciplinary local and global community arts practitioners. PP is a hub of free Inclusive art practice, we use a community development – cultural brokerage strategy to enable artists to express their lived experience, widen participation for all irrespective of identity and/protected characteristics. We facilitate art and doing across a range of different creative practices. Our work challenges, transforms and redefines notions of identity, social history and hierarchical structures by giving everyone a chance to take part. Activities are co designed and delivered with a wide network of other community practitioners including disability and mental health projects, children, young and elderly people and workshops which focus on arts for health and well-being. PP employs, reaches out to, and unites diverse audiences and communities and delivers a key part of RBKCs’ arts strategy.
