Community Wood Recycling

Community Wood Recycling

Community Wood Recycling was founded in 2003 to set up and develop a nationwide network of wood recycling social enterprises, based on the model of the Brighton and Hove Wood Recycling Project. We now have 29 member enterprises throughout the country from Taunton to Glasgow. Our goals are simple. The first is to save resources by rescuing and re-using waste timber that would otherwise be land filled or at best downcycled into wood chip, reducing the demand for virgin timber. The second is to create sustainable jobs, training and volunteering opportunities for local people - especially those who might be described as disadvantaged and find it difficult to get back to employment. Our members provide a commercial waste wood removal service. They sort through the timber they collect and reuse as much as possible, selling it for DIY, making it into products or turning it into firewood.
